INTRODUCTION
Islamic Unity Week is marked between 12th and17th
Rabi-ul Awwal of the Islamic Calendar, on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary
of Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.H. This is the period in which Muslims ponder on the
fundamental call of unity according to the Holy Quran, as was initiated in the
year 1979, by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA). To
help foster unity amongst the Sunni and Shi’a brethren, the Mission organized 5
days of programs, from 29th October to 01 November 2020 at 20:00 –
21:00PM EAT, on FM Radio and Online through Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya
social Media platforms.
PROGRAMMING
The Mission hosted five different scholars, three were from the Sunni sect and two from the Shia sect who lectured on different topics. The table below shows details about the programs delivered:
Muslims all over the world realize that it is only unity and solidarity that can enable them to utilize their vast untapped potential and rescue them from the never-ending devious plots of their enemies and Islamophobes around the world. The Mission was fortunate to commemorate the Unity Week program to spread the true teachings of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) as the Community was facing injustices due to recent events that were lit to undermine and diminish the image of the Prophet of Allah S.A.W.W.
The believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion, are
like one body. If one organ complained, the rest of the body develops fever.
~ Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H
COMMENTS/IMPACT
The program attracted many listeners, most of them who wanted to figure out how Shia scholars were bonding with Sunni Scholars and the society in general. Below are samples of some comments from our Facebook page Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya.
Munavver Panju-Toronto
The work of Islamic Unity is very important. Apart from our message of THE AHLUL BAYT a.s we are somehow living SAFER. It works in India and Pakistan to have connection with Sunni Institutions etc. All the best for a successful event. Ameen.
