AFTAB LAUNCHES – VIRTUAL SAFE SPACE (VSS)
What is VSS?
VSS is a web application designed to connect youths from our communities around the world with popular Alims and professionals in one centralized space, whilst allowing them the option of staying anonymous. These speakers will range from counsellors to speech specialist, to popular alims and are called “Trusted Friends” on the app.
VSS aims to provide you that and much more, a safe heaven, a safe space where community members may be able to take advantage of consulting and meeting scholars, patrons and specialists who may be able to cater for their needs while ensuring complete privacy and secrecy wherever they may be in the world. With VSS you can send your Alim, marriage counsellor or specialist a booking whenever you are near a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. As seen in our promotional posters, the easy-to-use design of the platform and the anonymity feature will enable users to easily navigate the platform.
Why VSS?
With life taking its toll on all of us, everyone needs a guide, a place where they can share their problems and solutions to them, somewhere to clarify our emotions or just to better understand ourselves. Despite the well-established structure of governing bodies such as Jamaats, Africa Federation and World Federation, our communities lack easy access to resources that these governing bodies have established. With people’s busy schedule it can be difficult to time for your next marriage counselling appointment or because of your geographical location it can be difficult to meet our spiritual leaders. VSS bridges the gap that our communities have suffered from for too long. In a time where technology has become an ever constant in our lives, it is up to us to use it for the betterment of our communities.
How did VSS come about?
The Virtual Safe Space [VSS] was a dream project and a far vision of Marhoom Syed Hassan Naqvi which was very near to his heart where he wanted to centralize this platform for youths, young adults as well as elders of both genders of our community to find answers and solutions in regards to spirituality, family affairs and social vices whilst being completely anonymous. His stance remained in bringing awareness in our communities on different vices that have now become issues pertaining to our society. As a community, he envisioned the profound importance to connect and synchronize our paths for the feeling of brotherhood amongst the community as it is to unite for the same belief and faith, which is the prominent foundation for a strong community that benefits the society and those who want to change their behavior for the betterment of this life and hereafter. He saw the best in people and would strive to achieve the unity and triumph in the community. His vision was simple- to bring awareness and save the future generation from falling back and losing the real essence of Islam. Marhoom Sayed Hassan Naqvi in his last speech strongly emphasized “not to allow ourselves to fail our children and families”.
