Mohamed Jawad Khaki – the name which is synonymous with charities and humanitarian services in several parts of Tanzania and beyond.
Africa Federation Secretariat were pleased to once again welcome Alhaj Mohamed Jawad Khaki of Khaki Foundation to our Africa Federation offices at AFED Tower in Dar es Salaam recently. He was received by the Vice Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan and the Administrative Secretary of the Education Board, Mrs. Sajida Master. A meeting was held with Alhaj Aunali Khalfan and Administrative staff on various matters of common interest between the two institutions, in particular on education sector.
Alhaj Mohamed Jawad Khaki established the Khaki Foundation in December 2003 to aid the most vulnerable members of society with essential needs and through educational endeavors to alleviate poverty and suffering.
This was the first time Mohamed Jawad bhai visited the new AFED Offices in AFED Tower, which is located in the city centre of Dar es Salaam. The staff had the benefit of meeting him and sharing his thoughts on various matters pertaining to education, moral & ethical values, importance of the holy Qur’an and economic development schemes, he emphasized in creating new opportunities looking outside the box.
Khaki Foundation is one of the Africa Federation’s donor in Higher Education Loan Scheme established in July 2000 to assist Tanzanian students to pursue undergraduate degree program abroad. The Khaki Foundation provided US$112,000 to AFED in support of the Higher Education Loan Scheme, which is revolving.
Out of the students that have benefitted from this scheme, 6 students have successfully completed their degrees and have commenced repayment of the loans. The repayments from these students is then used for other new applicants.
The need for financial support in the field of education is increasing each year; Education Board is constantly looking for avenues for the support. Organizations such as Khaki Foundation is of good support in supplementing AFED’s Higher Education Loan Scheme Program. The Vice Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan expressed appreciation to the Khaki Foundation for the support, also in taking keen interest in the development and taking time out to meet with AFED Officials. Aunali Bhai Khalfan explained that the needs for education funding, including the Tabligh & Economic Upliftment is huge and therefore the East African diaspora like Mohamed Jawad and others can make a big difference. He requested Mohamed Jawad bhai to assist further, especially in Higher Education funding and scholarships.
We pray to Allah (SWT) to reward Mohamed Jawad amply for his noble work and grant him more tawfeeqat to continue in his endeavors to serve humanity at large, Aameen.
