WORLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE – MOMBASA
The road safety awareness walk organised by National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) from the county government and judiciary offices concluded at the Jaffery Academy Mombasa newly completed school zone and roads for a grand opening. It was flagged off by Mr. Mahmood Noor Mombasa governor advisor who graced the occasion on behalf of HE Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir and Principal Magistrate – Hon Martin Rabera Governor Mombasa County.
The walk emphasised on;
- Safety for school children’
- Speed kills our children’
- Protect our children’
- Remember, support, act’
Many organizations and schools were in attendance to create responsiveness on positive road use.

The walk was followed by the grand opening of the school zone which is meant to benefit not only Jaffery Academy Mombasa but also its neighbouring schools. The opening of the newly named roads Al Sadiq and Al Baqir were ceremoniously executed by Mr. Mahmood Noor Advisor to HE the Governor of Mombasa, the Principal Magistrate Hon Martin Rabera, Dr Mohamed Jaffer KSI Jamat Chairman and Mr. Masumali Meghji KSI Education Board Chairman.
The KSI Mombasa Jamat Chairman Dr Mohamed Jaffer declared that the new names were names of scholars who have contributed greatly in education – Al – Sadiq meaning ‘Truthful’ and Al – Baqir – ‘Splitter of Knowledge’.

Trees were then planted at Jaffery Academy Mombasa to commemorate the event on remembering victims of road traffic accidents. NTSA, Jaffery Academy Mombasa, County Government of Mombasa and various other stakeholders participated in this movement.

The Mombasa County schools and other transport bodies then converged at Jaffery Academy Mombasa to join the rest of the world in remembering victims of road traffic accidents under the theme ‘Justice ‘ with the slogan “Remember, Support, Act”. The event was hosted by Jaffery Academy Mombasa in conjunction with NTSA.
School children further enhanced the occasion by presenting rhymes, poems, skits and talks on road safety. Speeches from the dignitaries gave a clear message that, we need to advocate on road user behaviour which will ensure safer roads, safer vehicles, safer drivers.
