The Chairman of Africa Federation (AFED), Alhaj Amine Nassor is pleased to announce the appointment of Alhaj Shabbirhussein Pyarali Khalfan as Chairman of Capacity Building Group (CBG) for the new term, 2022-2025.
Shabbirhussein bhai (pictured centre) was born and grew up in Bukoba where he attained his primary and secondary school education before pursuing his ‘A’ levels education at Mazengo in Dodoma. He is a holder of Bachelors of Science degree in Systems Analysis and Design from the Institute of Data Processing Management U.K. He has been the backbone of Capacity Building Group under Africa Federation, since its inception acquiring and spreading knowledge of personal development and served as the Head of CBG since 2013 with great enthusiasm. He was appointed as the first Chairman of CBG following the adoption of the Resolution making this section a fully-fledged Board of AFED at the 27th Ordinary Conference of 2019.
Shabbirhussein bhai served Bukoba Jamaat in different capacities and was the Founder Chairman of Jaffery Secondary School – the first collaborative project between Shia Ismailia and Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Bukoba in Tanzania. He is renowned for having served in various areas within charity organizations over a number of years. He is the founder secretary of Izaas Medical project charity organization which prides in donating more than 1000 limbs, prosthesis and walking aids crafted from locally available resources in third world countries. Furthermore, he is the CEO of Fikrafya Foundation whose vision is to create awareness and fight stigma around mental health.
Shabbirhussein bhai has impacted the objectives of CBG through his extensive experience as a Master life and relationship coach, Marital mediator, mentor, facilitator and Career Counselor. Shabbirhussein bhai holds several credentials as a facilitator, psychotherapist, mental health national trainer, mental health first aider, Trainer meditator in personal development fields like mindfulness, confidence, mindset, employee performance, emotional intelligence, carrier, goal success, purpose quest-coach, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT,) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT), Thought Filed Therapy (TFT), Art Therapy, Neuro Psychology of Learning, Neuro Linguistic programming, Mental health First aid and Community Fit Champion Trainer and Self-Care Coach. The latest being Brain Profiling using fingerprints.
Shabbirhussein bhai is keen to take up this inspiring role and continue with the team’s vision to build capacity and create awareness amongst people who have the potential for growth and development, to foster Islamic values and yield vibrant, happy and confident individuals across our communities.
Inayat Bhai Firdousi – CBG Vice Chairman & Marital Mediation Lead – Nairobi (pictured third from right)
Inayat bhai is an electrical engineer and runs an engineering firm. He is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people from all cultures. As a mediator with the judiciary in Kenya as well as a marital mediator, he has served in various capacities in the local Jamaat. Currently, he is the Chairman of Nairobi Jaffery Education Board.
An ICF accredited coach (ACC), Inayat bhai, helps people and teams grow into the best version of themselves. Inayat is a CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach), an ORSC (Organisational and Relationship Systems Coach), a certified coach as well as an executive coach (Academy of Executive Coaching). He has facilitated various CBG programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar and India.
Shama Bai Dewji – CBG Board Secretary & YDP Lead – Dar Es Salaam (pictured second from right)
Shama bai Dewji is a counselor, Art Therapist and Art Therapeutic Life Coach by profession. She has been a Board Member, a facilitator and the Youth Coordinator Lead for AFED Capacity Building for the past 10 years.
She has the following achievements to her credit:
- From the British Psychology Society, she is a Certified MBTI practitioner for Level 1 and 2 and Test User Ability and Personality. Furthermore, she is a Certified European Test User Practitioner in Work and Organizational Assessment.
- From the World Federation Madressa Center of Excellence, Shama bai is a Certified Madrasah Assessor, Certified Facilitator for Neuropsychology of Learning Programs and a Certified Facilitator for Leadership Development Program.
- She is also a Certified National Mental Health First Aid trainer from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA-UK).
Mumtaz Bai Ladak– CBG Board Member & FDP Lead – Arusha (pictured third from left)
Mumtaz bai is a member of the AFED-CBG Facilitator Team and the Lead for the Facilitator Development Program (FDP). She joined the team in 2011 and went on further for MBTI Certification, Facilitation Skills Training and Madrasah Assessors Training Program.
Mumtaz bai’s strength lies in organizational development and structure thanks to her vast experience of 25 years in the madrasah system in North America in New York and Orlando.
She had been very instrumental with Madrasah where she was a pioneer in its formation in Orlando and also served as a teacher and a Principal in the year between 1994 and 2007.
She worked with IEB Nasimco in the madaris initiative for several years and has served as executive councilor in Nasimco from 2006 onwards until her migration to Tanzania in 2011.
She is currently working with the Tanfoam group of companies and is also the Chairlady of Arusha Jamaat for the term 2022 – 2024.
Neelam Bai Jiwa – CBG Board Member & MDP Lead – Mombasa (pictured first from left)
Neelam bai Jiwa is the School Business Manager at Jaffery Academy Mombasa. Before attaining her position as a Business Manager, Neelam bai was a teacher for many years after having attained her educational expertise from the London Montessori Centre.
As a School Business Manager, she has undergone several trainings among them; the Executive Leadership Masterclass that focuses on implementing solutions that impact businesses.
Besides working full-time, Neelam bai is a committed wife and mother to two children. When she isn’t executing her duties as a Manager, Neelam bai loves socializing, spending time with her family as well as taking part in Community events and programs.
Soumeya Bai Djaffar- CBG Board Member – Reunion Island (pictured first from right)
Soumeya bai Djaffar is an International Cooperation Officer by profession and a psychology student. She has excellent academic achievements having a Master’s Degree in Health Economics from Paris Descartes University and a Master’s Degree in Management and Biotechnology from ESIEE Paris.
Soumeya bai completed her LDP in 2015 in France and MDP and FDP in 2020 in Tanzania. She has had the honor of serving the community as a Madrasah teacher in various jamaats such as Reunion Island, Paris South and Mauritius for over 10 years and has completed Neuro-Psychology of Learning (NPL) as part of Teacher Development Program from World Federation Madressa Center of Excellence in 2016 in Paris. She was an active member of the Youth Committee of Paris South Jamaat and was part of the CoEJ Youth Leaders Conference in 2015.
Soumeya bai is a certified mentor and facilitator for Leadership Development Program from AFED Capacity Building, with a special interest in Youth Development Programs. She is also a certified facilitator for Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT) from Life University and a certified Mental Health First Aider from MHFA UK. She has been a facilitator for AFED Capacity Building for the past 3 years. She believes learning is a lifelong journey and it’s never too late to become who you want to be.
Mohamedabbas Bhai Karim- CBG Board Member – Dar Es Salaam (pictured second from left)
Mohamedabbas bhai Karim is a dynamic youth having achieved his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Honours from City, University of London in 2018.
He has diverse experience in Technology and Marketing having worked for top companies such as BlackRock and Pricewaterhouse Cooper. Currently he is the Customer Experience Officer and head of creative at Red Dot Distribution as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Mak45, a strategy consulting startup of which he is also the Founder since December 2021.
Mohamedabbas bhai completed his YDP in 2017 in the UK, the LDP in 2019 and MDP and FDP in 2020 in Tanzania. He has had the pleasure of serving the community in various capacities over his journey being a part of the Mediaroom team in Tanzania from 2003 to 2014, a mentor and part of the organizing team of the Behlool Society Easter camp in Leicester in 2016 and 2017 and a mentor for Camp COEJ in the UK in 2018.
Currently he serves as a Patron of the Development Society Youth Council and a member of the Economic Empowerment Development team under KSIJ Dar es Salaam as well as the Vice Chairman of the Aftab Societal Wellbeing Subcommittee in AFED in addition to being a developmental facilitator under CBG.
The AFED Secretariat extends its heartiest congratulations to Shabbirhussein bhai and his team on their appointment and wishes them success in the accomplishment of the Board’s goals and objectives set out for the term 2022 – 2025.
