The Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTAB) is pleased to announce that the MCE – Tarbiyyah Curriculum Training was implemented in five Madaris across Africa. The participants included teachers from Haydari Madrasah – Bujumbura, Husayni Madrasah – Dar es Salaam, Jafri Muslim Association Madrasah- Lilongwe, Masoomeen Madrasah – Lubumbashi and Huseini Madrasah – Mwanza.
What is Tarbiyyah Curriculum?
Tarbiyyah- a curriculum under MCE, whose vision is to nurture piety by enabling a learning environment that instils the values of the Qur’an and Ahlul Bayt a.s.
The Tarbiyyah curriculum is a spiral curriculum whereby all traditional Madrasah subjects i.e. Fiqh, Aqaid, Tarikh and Akhlaq are interlinked to give the students a better understanding of the religion without compartmentalising it.
Up until 2022, 8 Madaris across Africa had taken up the curriculum. These Madaris include Yadgaare Murtazawi Madrasah- Arusha, Haydari Madrasah- Nairobi, Husayni Madrasah Mombasa, Madressa Ahlulbayt – Mauritius and 4 Madaris in Reunion.
One of the pre-requisites of this Curriculum is that the teachers need to undergo a curriculum training (CT) under the MCE team. The goal of the training program is to ensure that teachers have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively teach the curriculum and achieve the best possible outcomes for their students.
Four such training sessions were held for our teachers in Africa- two online and two in person. The online training catered to Bujumbura, Lilongwe, Mwanza and Lubumbashi while the two in person trainings were held in Mombasa for new teachers that consisted of teachers from Mombasa, Nairobi and Arusha and the last training was conducted in Dar es Salaam to cater to teachers of Husayni Madrasah – DSM. A total of 48 new teachers were trained. A refresher course was also held in Mombasa for the previously trained teachers.
The Curriculum Training Session in Mombasa was blessed to have the presence of the AFED Office Bearers – the Chairman Alhaj Amine bhai Nassor, Vice Chairman, Alhaj Aunali bhai Khalfan; Hon Secretary Alhaj Zuhair bhai Jaffer- AFED Hon. Secretary and AFTAB Chairman Alhaj Sajjad Walji who addressed the teachers and appreciated them for the hard work they put in to train our children in the path of Thaqalain.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Zuleikha bai Hirji – Head of the MCE Program and Sajeeda bai Virani – Head of the Band A and B- MCE for facilitating these training sessions. Our sincere thanks to the Madrasah Administration for their unending support and we wish these teachers all the best as they take up this new journey.
