The rituals and legacy of Azadaari for Imam Hussein (a`) and the Shuhada-e-Karbala (martyrs of Karbala) continue to resonate through various meaningful ways. One of the most prominent expressions is the annual Juloos, or procession, where believers and mourners gather to commemorate the sacrifice of Imam Hussein (a`) and his companions in the Event of Karbala and express their grief and solidarity. This solemn march not only honors the memory of Imam Hussein (a`) but also accentuates his message of standing against tyranny and injustice. The Juloos involves mournful recitations, lamentations, and a somber march, serving as a powerful reminder of the enduring lessons of courage, sacrifice, and justice.
In essence, this legacy extends beyond symbolic gestures, as the spirit of selflessness and compassion is exemplified through acts such as blood donations. Many individuals, inspired by the noble values of Imam Hussein (a`), participate in blood drives, epitomizing the essence of giving and saving lives – a reflection of his legacy as the ultimate humanitarian.
On Saturday, 29th July 2023 which coincided with Ashura the 10th of Muharram 1445 AH, Shia residents of Dodoma came out in big numbers to the streets in procession, to commemorate the Martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a`). Among the participants were also ladies, children and students of Dar-ul-Muslimeen Hawza in Dodoma.
Earlier on Thursday 27th July 2023, many volunteered to donate blood in the name of Imam Hussein (a`) at Regional Hospital of Dodoma.

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, the Bilal Muslim Mission of Uganda organized Juloos to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a`) and the Shuhada-e-Karbala. This marked a significant moment as it was the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that permission was granted to hold the procession.
Shia Ithna’asheri Muslims from various corners of the country congregated to actively partake in the event. The gathering, which consisted of around 800 Muslims, encompassing both men and women, commenced from the upper road of KSIJ Kampala Mosque, traversed through William Street and Bombo Road, culminating at Kampala Road – the venue for Mehfile Darbar-e-Hussain.
The event featured a series of lectures delivered by eminent sheikhs and representatives from the Uganda Muslim Council. Also present were Br. Imran Nadeem, the Chairman of the Pakistan Association, and Br. Muhammad Muqaddar, the Honorary Secretary.
The program concluded with Salatul Jama’ah followed by Nyaz.
In the heart of these commemorative acts of selfless giving, Imam Hussein’s message echoes his timeless call for justice and compassion. As we gather in remembrance, his poignant words resonate: “Every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala.” The Juloos and acts of compassion are not mere rituals but reflections of his enduring message. As believers unite in solemn processions and selfless blood donations, they reinforce the teachings of courage, sacrifice, and justice that Imam Hussein (a) epitomized. In every step taken to alleviate suffering and uphold righteousness, his legacy lives on, inspiring generations to come.
