The 86th Supreme Council Session of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa was held in Kampala from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October 2023 and was attended by about 140 participants which included councillors, dignitaries and invites from around the World.
The Africa Federation Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor took the opportunity of this Session to honour some members of the Community for their services towards the development of the Community. The presentation was done on Friday 29th September 2023 during the Opening Night of the Session.
Alhaj Safdar Rehemani and Alhaj Hussein Merchant, two prominent Community members of Kampala were bestowed “Husseini Medals” in recognition of their dedication and honorary selfless services to the community.
Citations for each of the recipients were read out giving a brief chronicle of their outstanding achievements, dedication and significant contributions.
Brief Extract from the Citation of Alhaj Safdar Rehemani of Kampala
Your services as a teacher at the Kampala Jamaat Madrassah pre the Exodus era is remembered by most of your students for your unique way of imparting Islamic knowledge, you continued your services to the Jamaat on your return to Kampala and served the Jamaat as its Mukhi from 1992 to 2022 and headed the Ghusl and Kafan Committee until 2018. You were nominated as a Senior Mukhi by the Jamaat in recognition of your dedication. Over the years, you have maintained cordial approach and associated yourself with various committees, also being easily accessible to the young and old to reach out to you and gain from your vast experience.
Your soothing soft voice has made you one of the leading reciters of Qasidas, Duas and Nauhas in Kampala Jamaat. Your passion and initiatives to train the youth of our Community in recitations of Duas, Qasidas etc. over the years are all greatly valued.
Brief Extract from the Citation of Alhaj Hussein Merchant of Kampala
You were also one of the founding members of the Lubumbashi Jamaat in Democratic Republic of Congo and served as its President for two years, in the years 1988 – 1990. In Kampala you served as the President from 2010 to 2014, and earlier as a Mukhi for 10 years and currently you are a Trustee of the Jamaat. You were in the forefront in the various renovations’ projects of the Jamaat’s properties and the most recent one is a residential complex.
Your humble and matured disposition while in the role of leadership has touched the lives of many people who look upon you and take you as an inspiration and a mentor.
Besides, your love for the Ahlulbayt (A) and being conscious of the sentiments of the Community at large have always resulted in the Jamaat benefitting in the form of availing of the services of the prominent religious scholars and other reciters through years.
The Africa Federation Chairman also presented an Appreciation Award to the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat Kampala for hosting the 86th Supreme Council Session.
Presentation to Former First Ladies of Africa Federation
The wives of the Chairmen of the Africa Federation play crucial but often overlooked roles in supporting their husbands who dedicate significant time to community service. Despite managing household responsibilities, they provide unwavering moral support through late-night meetings, travel, and unexpected calls.
In recognition of the enormous support and effort of the first ladies of Africa Federation, Alhaj Amine bhai Nassor presented Appreciation Awards to the Former First Ladies of Africa Federation, Mrs. Shaheen Shabir Najafi and Mrs. Zainab Anwarali Dharamsi and prayed for their strength, inspiration, and good health to continue supporting their husbands in their services of the community and institutions.
We pray to Allah (SWT) with His infinite Grace and Blessings to reward them all with a long, healthy and prosperous life and grant them more tawfeeqat to continue serving the community and humanity at large – Ameen.
