The 86th Supreme Council Session of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa was successfully hosted by KSI Kampala from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October 2023 which coincided with the Centenary Celebrations of the Jamaat.
The sessions were attended by over 140 councilors, invitees and observers from Burundi, Canada, Comoros, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Reunion, Rwanda, Tanzania, U.A.E., U.K, U.S.A. and the host Uganda (Kampala).
The Session was preceded by a live talk show program dubbed “Panjo Uganda” organized by the AFED Archive Sub Section in conjunction with Kampala Jamaat on Thursday 28th September 2023. This program gave the panelists a platform to discuss and revisit the memories of the 1972 expulsion of Asians in Uganda, reflect on its aftermath, and celebrate the ongoing progress of our resilient community.
The Supreme Council Session commenced on Friday 30th September 2023 at 3.00 p.m. and concluded on Monday 2nd October 2023 at 1.30 a.m.
The formal opening session that took place on Friday night commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Agha Mohammed Lotfi followed by the welcome address by the President of Kampala Jamaat, Alhaj Sibtain Merchant. The President of the World Federation Alhaj Safdar Jaffer then addressed the audience followed by a captivating address by the Chairman of Africa Federation Alhaj Amine Nassor. Alhaj Mustafa Kanji, Chairman of the Organizing Committee had the opportunity to welcome all the participants during the first assembly of the Session on Friday afternoon.
ELECTIONS
The following two Trustees were elected due to the position having fallen vacant as the previously elected Trustees have taken up positions in their Territorial Council. The elections were conducted by Alhaj Sajjad Karamsi of Nairobi who was elected by the Session to run the elections in absence of AFED Electoral Commissioner Alhaj Gulamabbas Khaku

AFED CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMITTEE
Alhaj Mohsin Kanji the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee appointed the following members to the Committee

- Alhaj Iqbal Socomo – Madagascar
- Alhaj Mustafa G. Kanji – Kampala
- Br. Alihassan Kassam – Dar-es-Salaam
MAURITIUS JAMAAT MEMBERSHIP
Following deliberations of the Mauritius Jamaat request for membership to Africa Federation, the 86th Supreme Council Session unanimously approved the consideration of application of membership for Mauritius Jamaat to the Conference subject to the amendment to the Africa Federation constitution.
DELIBERATIONS:
The Supreme Council Agenda included the presentation and adoption of the Accounts & Budget, Minutes, Resolutions and the Board Reports for the duration July 2022 – August 2023.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints the Central Health Board, Housing Board and the Resolutions from the Secretariat and Councillors could not be presented. The Councillors agreed for this to be deferred to the next Council Session.
