Transformative Marriage Workshop:
Marriage stands as a cornerstone, revered for its profound impact on individuals and societies alike. Beyond being a union of two individuals, it represents a sacred bond fostering love, companionship, and mutual support. Acknowledged for providing stability and structure, marriage becomes the bedrock of social order, offering a framework for the growth of families and communities.
With its roots in shared values, commitment, and understanding, the institution of marriage becomes a fertile ground for personal development, emotional fulfillment, and spiritual growth and its significance goes beyond the individual, shaping the very fabric of societies weaving threads of unity and solidarity.
Embracing the timeless wisdom of the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (saww), who stated, “There is no foundation that has been built in Islam more loved by Allah than marriage,” the Antananarivo Jamaat recognized the pivotal role marriages play in the fabric of society and sought to address prevalent issues through a transformative marriage workshop on the 2nd and 3rd of March, 2024.
Facilitated by Africa Federation’s Capacity Building Board (CBG), the workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 12 couples eager to navigate the intricate dynamics of marital relationships. The sessions were skillfully led by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan – the Chairman of the Capacity Building Board (CBG), Sr. Tahera Shivji, and Sr. Sidika Akil Hirji.
Among the key topics explored during the workshop were:
- Personality Differences: Unveiling the Essence of Soul Connections
The workshop delved into the profound understanding that each soul has its match. Exploring the intricacies of personality differences, couples were guided towards a deeper appreciation of the unique qualities that enrich their unions.
- Communication Breakdown: Bridging Gaps with Mutual Comprehension
Recognizing the critical role communication plays in nurturing relationships, the session emphasized the need for effective communication skills, mutual comprehension, and respect. Participants were equipped with tools to navigate the delicate art of communication within their marriages.
- Spiritual Enrichment: Nurturing the Soul of Matrimony
Acknowledging the importance of spirituality in marital bliss, the workshop emphasized the role of faith in fostering resilience, compassion, and unity within couples. Strengthening the spiritual bond became a cornerstone for addressing contemporary challenges.
- Materialism and the Temptation to Show Off: Rediscovering Simple Joys
In a world filled with material temptations, the workshop explored the pitfalls of materialistic life and the need to resist the urge to showcase possessions. Couples were encouraged to find fulfillment in shared experiences and the beauty of simplicity.
- Conflict Resolution: Transforming Challenges into Growth
Addressing conflicts head-on, the workshop provided practical strategies for resolving disputes amicably. Couples learned to view conflicts as opportunities for growth and understanding, ultimately fortifying their unions.
As the workshop concluded, the Antananarivo Jamaat expressed optimism about the positive impact these workshops will have on the community’s marital landscape. In an era where societal pressures loom large, investing in marital development will pave the way for stronger, resilient families.
The Antananarivo Jamaat remains committed to fostering an environment where the institution of marriage is cherished, fortified, and celebrated. Through continued initiatives, such as the marital workshop and seminars; they aim to build a community where the love and compassion inherent in marriages echo the divine sentiments encapsulated in the teachings of Islam.
The closing and certification ceremony was held on Sunday 3rd March 2024.
One of CBG’s key visions is to address various aspects of marital life, including spouse selection, pre-marriage preparation, post-marriage support, parenting guidance, and marital mediation. With a dedicated focus on these areas, CBG has actively engaged in marital mediation through trained mediators. This workshop stands as a notable milestone in CBG’s efforts, representing the second step towards developing a comprehensive framework of marital concepts. By offering guidance and support across all stages of marriage, CBG aims to contribute to the creation of stronger, more resilient families within the community.
The AFED Capacity Building Board (CBG) wishes to accord sincere gratitude to the Africa Federation Secretariat, AKSIAM and Antananarivo Jamaat for their unwavering cooperation and support towards the program.
We would also like to thank the Africa Federation Office Bearers for their encouragement, cooperation, and financial support, which has made it possible for us to consistently host such training workshops.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each participant (The 12 couples) who graciously dedicated their time to this enriching journey and attended the marital workshop.
“Your commitment not only fosters personal growth and strengthens relationships but also contributes to a positive influence on both individual lives and society as a whole”.
