This intensive training initiative, generously sponsored by the Africa Federation (AFED) and the Ismat Kassam Women Empowerment Program (IKWEP), aimed at enhancing the capabilities of trainers dedicated to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
A total of 12 dedicated trainers participated in the program, representing a diverse group of organizations including the Dar-es-Salaam KSI Jamaat Economic Empowerment Committee & the Social Services Committee, Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya, and others.
The training provided an invaluable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of effective business strategies and management practices critical for nurturing and growing small enterprises.

Over the course of two weeks, the trainers engaged in a variety of learning activities, presentations, and practical sessions aimed at refining their ability to guide aspiring entrepreneurs towards success.
The program featured esteemed master trainers including Mr. Macdonald Lanzi, Mr. Elieza Mussa, and Mr. Ben Mwambela, who shared their extensive knowledge and experience with the participants. Additionally, the training was honoured by a visit from ILO Employment Specialist Mr. Jealous Chirove, whose insights on employment strategies and business development were highly valued by all attendees.
Some of the key session plans included:
- Preparation and Designing a Session Plan
- Creating and Implementing an Action Plan
- Introduction to SIYB Modules

- Strategies for Business Improvement and Growth
These topics were meticulously designed to ensure that the trainers could absorb and adopt the skills necessary to educate and empower individuals within their communities. The trainers were not only taught these critical concepts but were also required to present their understanding, ensuring a robust and interactive learning environment.
The SIYB Training of Trainers program is a pivotal step towards achieving broader economic empowerment and development. By equipping trainers with the necessary skills and knowledge, the program aims to create a ripple effect, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and business excellence within the community.
The completion of this training marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to empower our community through effective business education and support. The newly trained trainers are now well-equipped to mentor and guide small business owners, helping them to build successful and sustainable enterprises.
