“The believers are but brothers, so make peace (settlement) between your brothers, and remain conscious of Allah (fear Allah), that you may receive His mercy”. – Holy Qur’an – Surah Al Hujurat [49:10]
The Africa Federation (AFED) Secretariat wishes to inform the Community that the AFED office bearers were called in Zanzibar by the Hon. Minister in the President’s office and the Registrar of NGOs for a meeting on 25th September 2020. AFED was directed to take necessary action to resolve the matter of KSI Kuwwatul Islam Jamaat, including the elections of the Jamaat which was to be held on 30th March 2018.
Following the above, the Chairman of AFED, Alhaj Shabir Najafi has appointed a Special Team to deal with the above matters.
The Special Zanzibar Team is made up of the following:
- Alhaj Mohsin Abdallah Lalji – Chairman
- Br. Alihassan Fazle Kassam – Secretary
- Alhaj Hassan Gulamhussein Hirji – Member
- Alhaj Bashir Naushad Bandali – Member
The Khoja Community worldwide is seriously worried by the division in the small Community of Zanzibar, which undermines the basic and moral principles of Islamic values, which also acts as impediment towards the development of the Jamaat and the Community which is suffering for a long time from these disputes and misunderstandings.
AFED as the Parent Body and in following the directive of the Supreme Council in April 2018 has been working on the matter since the dispute arose in March 2018, unfortunately despite numerous efforts, meetings and agreements being reached, this matter has been accelerating which has unfortunately resulted in intervention by the Government Authorities.
As AFED, we remain confident this impasse can be amicably resolved through internal mechanisms. We encourage all the parties concerned to exercise patience and wisdom and heed towards AFED led initiative to amicably resolve this matter and uphold constitutional rights of the members of Kuwwatul Islam Jamaat of Zanzibar.
We urge our members to support these efforts and pray for the successful and early resolution of this long outstanding matter.
The Statement begins with Surah Hujurat in the Holy Qur’an which is clearly asking us to make peace and work in unity for the pleasure of Allah (SWT) and for receiving His mercy.
