The Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to appoint Alhaj Hussein Alimohamed Karim as Chairman of the Central Bilal Board (CBB) of the Africa Federation for the three-year term; 2019 – 2022.
Brief Profile:
Alhaj Hussein Karim was born on 5th October, 1963 in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He is married with five children.
Hussein bhai did his Primary education in Singida and Secondary education at Mawenzi Secondary School in Moshi. Thereafter he pursued IB at International School Moshi. He also studied Law at the Open University of Tanzania while in Moshi. He operates a successful business venture in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
For a number of years, Hussein bhai served in several public, religious and charitable institutions involved in social and humanitarian services to the communities, thereby acquiring wide-ranging of experience in office administration, personnel management and public relations. He has travelled overseas extensively and in the course of his travel, he has established good rapport with some overseas religious institutions, students and instructors.
Following is a synopsis of the social and voluntary services to the institutions which he has been involved with since year 1987.
- 2017 – 2020: AFED Nominated Councillor to the World Federation.
- 2016 – 2019: Hon Secretary – Africa Federation
- 2010 – 2016: Member of the Marriage Reconciliation Board of KSI Jamaat, Dar es Salaam.
- 2010 – 2012: Vice Chairman of the Central Medical Board (CMB) of KSI Jamaat, Dar es Salaam.
- 2000 – 2009: Chairman of WIPAHS and of Waliul Asr Education Centre, Kibaha.
- 2003 – 2007: Founder Member and Chairman of MEDWELL, a Charitable NGO, Kibaha.
- 1987 – 1999: Hon Secretary Moshi Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
- 1992 – 1999: Hon Secretary and Director, Board of Directors; School Board Member, Mt. Kilimanjaro School in Moshi.
- 1989: Hon Secretary, KSI Jamaat, Moshi.
Aims & Objectives:
To guide and support in promoting and spreading the Madh’ab of Ahlulbayt (AS) effectively through various initiatives, activities and programs by the Regional Bilal Muslim Missions in East Africa with the aim of expanding to other parts of Africa.
With the rapid changes and diversity we face currently in various domains including in Tabligh, there emerges new challenges which the Board should brace itself to tackle through effective use of the modern and advanced technology in information and communications systems. Similarly, CBB should lay more emphasis in promoting the aims and objectives of the Africa Federation in regards to External Tabligh by applying methods of inclusion and collaborative management/operating systems, i.e. providing guidance and support to the Regional Bilal Muslim Missions in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, and aiming into expansion to other areas in the future.
The Chairman, Alhaj Shabir Najafi and the Office Bearers of Africa Federation extend their heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Alhaj Hussein Karim on his appointment and we pray for his good health, tawfeeqat and every success in serving the Mission and in delivering to the Mission’s Aims and Objectives.

Aligned with the present structure of the Central Bilal Board (CBB), the Chairmen of Bilal Muslim Missions of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda are automatically members of the Central Bilal Board (CBB). Also, the Hon. Secretary and the Hon. Treasurer of the Africa Federation Secretariat are the ex-officio members of the CBB.
Alhaj Shabir Najafi, AFED Chairman and his Office Bearers wishes to record their sincere appreciation to Alhaj Mohsin Abdallah Lalji (Sheni) for his dedication and services he has rendered for the past seven years as Chairman of the Central Bilal Board (CBE).
